About the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum

This stunningly beautiful facility which opened in the fall of 2005 is a repository of hot air and gas balloon artifacts and replicas as well as airship displays that feature their development with focuses on culture, history, science, sport and art. The glass, steel and fabric facility structure with state of the art interactive displays resembles a hot air balloon laying on its side partially inflated. The Museum’s grand hall boasts 2 ½ stories of open space that lends itself to exhibiting large, hanging and free standing art objects.

Museum holdings were brought together through the efforts of the Anderson and Abruzzo families who pioneered ballooning in Albuquerque, the City of Albuquerque, various local, national and international supporters, and with the support of the Museum Foundation. Collections include material donated by individuals directly involved in ballooning endeavors and ballooning history enthusiasts worldwide.

The Museum’s mission is to educate diverse audiences with engaging exhibitions and informative programs about the global development of ballooning and lighter-than-air craft. The programs and displays all support and illustrate the Museum’s main docuses.

Silk Painters International has been invited by the Museum staff and the City of Albuquerque to display our beautiful silk banners during the summer and fall of 2008.
